These Terms and Conditions govern your use of queercompass.co.uk and any associated pages, content, features, directories, listings, tools and services made available through the website, together the Site.

By accessing or using the Site, you confirm that you accept these Terms and Conditions and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Site.

1. About us

Queer Compass is a website and directory service operated under the Queer Compass brand for a UK audience.

2. Who can use the Site

The Site is made available for general informational, personal and non-commercial use.

You may use the Site only in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and all applicable laws and regulations.

4. Changes to the Site

We may update, change, suspend, withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of the Site at any time and without notice.

We do not guarantee that the Site, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted.

  • reuse listings, business details, descriptions, categories, reviews, images, editorial text or any part of our directory in another website, app, database, AI system, training dataset or commercial service;
  • use any robot, spider, crawler, scraper, automated script, bot or similar technology to access, copy or monitor any part of the Site;
  • create a competing directory or dataset using content from the Site;
  • sell, sublicense or commercially exploit any content from the Site;
  • remove or alter any copyright, trade mark or proprietary notices.

Unauthorised extraction or reuse of all or a substantial part of the contents of this Site, including repeated or systematic extraction or reuse of insubstantial parts, is strictly prohibited.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • misuse the Site or knowingly introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other malicious or harmful material;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its server, database or any connected systems or networks;

While we aim to keep information accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee that any listing is complete, accurate, current, suitable, safe, available, open, inclusive, trading, or appropriate for your specific needs or expectations.

Inclusion in the directory does not amount to our endorsement, recommendation, certification, accreditation or guarantee unless we expressly state otherwise.

Users should carry out their own checks before visiting a venue, relying on a service, making a purchase, contacting a third party or travelling to a location listed on the Site.

8. LGBTQ+ inclusive and community-related information

Queer Compass exists to help users discover LGBTQ+ inclusive, relevant or community-related places, services and organisations.

Standards, ownership, management, policies, staff behaviour and community alignment can change over time. A listing, label or description on the Site reflects our editorial judgement or the information available to us at the relevant time and should not be taken as a permanent guarantee.

9. User submissions and corrections

If you submit information, corrections, suggestions, reviews, photographs or other material to us, you confirm that:

  • you have the right to submit it;
  • it is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
  • it does not infringe any third-party rights;
  • it is not unlawful, defamatory, misleading, abusive or harmful.

By submitting content to us, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, reproduce, adapt, publish and display that content for the purposes of operating, promoting and improving the Site.

We may remove, edit, reject or decline to publish submissions at our discretion.

If you are a consumer, the Site is made available for domestic and private use only. We are not liable for business losses.

We may investigate and remove or restrict material where appropriate.

We do not currently use cookies for analytics, advertising or visitor profiling on the public Site. See our cookies statement. If that changes, we may introduce a separate cookie notice or policy where required.

We do not guarantee that the Site will be secure or free from bugs or viruses.

You are responsible for using your own virus protection software and configuring your devices and software appropriately.

You must not misuse the Site by knowingly introducing malicious or harmful material or attempting unauthorised access.

"Queer Compass" and any associated logos, branding, names, slogans or get-up used on the Site are our trade marks or branding assets unless otherwise stated.

You must not use them without our prior written consent.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

If we delay in enforcing these Terms, that will not mean that we have waived our rights.

20. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Site, unless applicable consumer law allows otherwise.
