About Mind Outcome Islington
Outcome is Islington Mind’s community-led LGBTQI+ project. Based in North London, we provide a safe drop-in for LGBTQI+ people living anywhere across London to get support for their mental health in a space free from feeling like the “odd one out”. Anyone who is LGBTQI+ and wants support with their mental health is welcome to join, and we specialise in supporting people who are neurodiverse and have learning disabilities.
Across our projects, we utilise an intersectional, structurally aware, non-medical model approach to mental health and disability that is member-led. This means that we take seriously how someone wishes to present themselves on the day, emphasising the importance of their own choices and decisions in their own mental health care rather than viewing people through their diagnosis.
Outcome is run exclusively by a gay, queer, and trans team. Many of us have lived experience with neurodiversity, difficult mental health, and/or contact with mental health systems. Outcome has existed for over 20 years and is one of the few LGBTQI+ only mental health services in London.
We meet every Tuesday between 11:00am and 4:00pm, both in-person and online. Our project for LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and refugees meets on Wednesdays.
